I went to a great high school (I can admit that now that I am an adult) that boasted an excellent art department. I took every art class available, including Drawing I & II, Painting I & II, Textiles, Ceramics, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Printmaking, etc. I also took a couple art classes in college, just for the fun of it. During high school I also took 2 years of Japanese and British Literature/Advanced Composition, both of which i loved.
My high school years offered me a lot of other great experiences, such as dance classes. I took ballet, tap and jazz for several years, and for my last 2 years in high school (maybe longer) I got to teach dance at the studio where I took lessons. I also taught gymnastics at my the gym my mom coaches at for a couple years. Big fun!
I have been associated with several religious denominations and participated in several youth groups, services, camp-outs, festivals, etc. Spirituality is a big deal to me. Not religion, spirituality. I'm sure I'll have plenty of posts to help explain what I mean, so I won't go into detail here.
I spent 4 years working as a teacher at a child development center. I quickly came to love early childhood education. It is something that came naturally to me, and allowed me to use a lot of my other skills and passions daily. After the center closed down, i continued to care for a few of the kiddos i had known since infancy. I still currently babysit for a few kids, which allows me to stay home with my own and pursue a future career in photography.
And that brings us to Photography! This is a new one to me! I got my hands on my first DSLR in October of 2008, so just over a year ago. I fell in love! Photography allows me to be creative in a time frame that fits my family. As much as I love studio arts, it just has not been feasible in my hectic schedule and small house full of children to do my own painting. Photography has become my creative outlet and I love it! (here comes my shout out...) I never would have gotten involved in photography has it not been for the always-inspiring Angie Warren. check her out at www.angiewarrenphotography.com and www.thecreativemama.com.
My newest adventure happens most Wednesday nights. I go hang out at a potluck dinner with people concerned with our community, green spaces, and organic living. These people are always interested in helping people become their very best, whatever role that may be. I am still very new to their group, but i can vouch that they are wonderfully interesting and caring people.
Well, I hope you have learned a little something new about me after reading all that. Stick around, visit often, check out my pics...if you know anything about my life already, you'll know that it's never dull! I hope to get some exciting posts up here soon! Especially ones that let your kids get a little dirty!
Messy Faces,
Jaime
