About Me

Most of you know me. I am Jaime Fleming. I am 20-something. I grew up in a great little town in southern Indiana. I have a great family- My son, Kai, is turning 4 and my daughter, Tali (read: Tally), is about to hit the big 18 months! Kai loves Star Wars and playing football in the living room while wearing a costume that is quickly becoming too small.  Tali loves to color, especially on the window to our back door.  I am the oldest of 5 kids. The youngest 2 of my siblings are twins and they are 7. Yes there are 2 decades between my twin sisters and I! Exciting, huh?!

I went to a great high school (I can admit that now that I am an adult) that boasted an excellent art department. I took every art class available, including Drawing I & II, Painting I & II, Textiles, Ceramics, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Printmaking, etc.  I also took a couple art classes in college, just for the fun of it. During high school I also took 2 years of Japanese and British Literature/Advanced Composition, both of which i loved.

My high school years offered me a lot of other great experiences, such as dance classes. I took ballet, tap and jazz for several years, and for my last 2 years in high school (maybe longer) I got to teach dance at the studio where I took lessons. I also taught gymnastics at my the gym my mom coaches at for a couple years. Big fun!

I have been associated with several religious denominations and participated in several youth groups, services, camp-outs, festivals, etc. Spirituality is a big deal to me. Not religion, spirituality. I'm sure I'll have plenty of posts to help explain what I mean, so I won't go into detail here.

I spent 4 years working as a teacher at a child development center. I quickly came to love early childhood education. It is something that came naturally to me, and allowed me to use a lot of my other skills and passions daily. After the center closed down, i continued to care for a few of the kiddos i had known since infancy. I still currently babysit for a few kids, which allows me to stay home with my own and pursue a future career in photography.

And that brings us to Photography! This is a new one to me! I got my hands on my first DSLR in October of 2008, so just over a year ago. I fell in love! Photography allows me to be creative in a time frame that fits my family.  As much as I love studio arts, it just has not been feasible in my hectic schedule and small house full of children to do my own painting. Photography has become my creative outlet and I love it! (here comes my shout out...)  I never would have gotten involved in photography has it not been for the always-inspiring Angie Warren. check her out at www.angiewarrenphotography.com and www.thecreativemama.com.

My newest adventure happens most Wednesday nights. I go hang out at a potluck dinner with people concerned with our community, green spaces, and organic living. These people are always interested in helping people become their very best, whatever role that may be. I am still very new to their group, but i can vouch that they are wonderfully interesting and caring people.

Well, I hope you have learned a little something new about me after reading all that. Stick around, visit often, check out my pics...if you know anything about my life already, you'll know that it's never dull!  I hope to get some exciting posts up here soon! Especially ones that let your kids get a little dirty!

Messy Faces,
Jaime

Welcome to my new blog!

Several people mentioned to me over a short time that they would like to see me do a blog. I took a couple months to think it over, and finally put pen to paper....er, finger to keyboard! So here she is! A brand new blog!

I'll start off by saying my grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. will often be improper; but hey- it's how I talk! (consider yourselves lucky I have even used capital letters so far!)

My intentions of this blog are to share with friends, family, photography clients, and perfect strangers certain aspects of parenthood. I happen to be a mom of 2 and an aspiring photographer, so you'll get to see lots of pictures. I also have a background in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, so I have lots of neat ideas to help parents relax, let go a little, and enjoy their very own Messy Kids.
